Palette is a free daily colour-matching game. Every day at midnight a new target colour is published โ the same one for every player around the world. Your job is to mix red, green, and blue (or cyan, magenta, yellow) sliders until your colour matches the target as closely as possible.
You get one shot per day. There's no second chance โ just one mix, one score. The closer your colour, the higher your score, up to a maximum of 10,000 points.
Palette scores your mix using Delta-E โ a scientific measure of perceptual colour distance developed for the textile and print industries. Unlike simple RGB distance, Delta-E measures how different two colours actually look to the human eye.
A Delta-E below 1 is imperceptible โ even trained professionals can't tell the colours apart. A Delta-E below 3 is considered a good match in commercial printing. Anything above 6 is noticeable at a glance.
Not sure which mode to use? RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is the additive colour model used by screens. CMY (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) is the subtractive model used in printing. Both control the same underlying colour โ it's just a different way to think about it. Some colours are easier to nail in RGB, others in CMY. Switch freely at any time.
โ Start by identifying the colour family โ is it warm (reds, oranges, yellows) or cool (blues, greens, purples)?
โ Use CMY mode for muted, earthy tones โ it's often more intuitive for colours you'd see in paint or fabric.
โ The hex value under YOUR MIX updates in real time โ use it to fine-tune.
โ A Delta-E under 3 puts you in the top tier. Under 1 is exceptionally rare.
โ Your streak resets if you miss a day โ come back every day to keep it alive.
There's no "play again" for the daily puzzle. One colour, one shot, same for everyone. This creates a shared experience โ players around the world are mixing the same colour on the same day.
Want more? Switch to Levels mode for 240 hand-picked colours across Classic, Memory, Restricted, and Studio modes.
Restricted mode challenges you to match colours using HSL sliders โ Hue, Saturation, and Lightness โ a completely different way to think about colour. Studio mode puts you in the mindset of a photo editor, adjusting Exposure, Temperature, Tint, and Saturation in perceptual colour space.
Both modes use the same Delta-E scoring so your skill carries across all four modes.
